Kmfq9v, I just did a search for AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR at Best Buy and their sale price was $1,256.99. If I get one, I will buy it thru B&H Photo or Hunts Photo and Video near Boston. -FiddleMaker
I ordered the AF-S 16-35 f4G ED VR last week in Best Buy at Dadeland in Miami for $816.99. Today when I went to pick it up, the price had been reduced to $629.99. I asked for a price adjustment and took the lens home for $629.99.
Last week I posted that the same Best Buy had the AF-S 80-400 4.5-5.6G ED VR for $1483.99.
I normally buy from B&H; but this week and last week, Best Buy made the sale. My GAS has subsided.

Wow!!! That's a savings of $627. Can't beat that. This demonstrates that not all Best Buy stores are consistent with their pricing. I wonder why the huge price difference between the Florida store and the New Hampshire store. Is it a gray market lens? -FiddleMaker

Kmgw9v, do you think someone in the Dadeland store simply made a pricing error?? -FiddleMaker

The Dadeland Best Buy is the only Best Buy that I frequent that carries top of the line Nikon lenses-and I don't go there often. Only by chance did I visit the store last week and saw the 80-400 and 16-35 AF-S lenses on a "Clearance sale.". The sales people on the floor knew very little, but prices tags reflecting the regular prices and a savings of $1216.99 on the 80-400 and $630.00 on the 16-35 were clearly visible in the display case. I got the 80-400 immediately, but had to order the 16-35 at the sale price. When I went to pick it up, the price was further reduced frm $813.99 to $629.99-- I got the price adjustment. Last time I was there, I was told that the lenses are no longer available, but the sale prices are still on display.
I wasn't looking for either of the lenses, but could not pass up the savings. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
I can't believe the Dadeland store is the only Best Buy to put the lenses on sale.
I am not making this up. The lenses are USA lenses; brand new, packaged in the Nikon gold boxes.

Better hope Nikon USA doesn't get wind of this "sale." They will not be happy.
I have the D750 and love it. I generally use the 28-300 as a walk around lens or the new 24-70mm 2.8E that I recently purchased. Great glass, but heavy. The new 24-70 is tack sharp, electronic AF focus is very fast. (This lens cannot be used on cameras made before 2007, I believe). Paired with the D750, the new 24-70 is heavy so I wouldn't use a neck strap! I don't worry much about weight if it gives me the results I want. The 24-70 that Nikon upgraded is still available and I don't believe they will remove it for now.

jerryc41, I also have a D750 with only the 28-300mm. But I am toying with idea of adding a AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR even though there is some overlap. Any thoughts? -FiddleMaker
I see no posts added here since October. Have you made your purchase yet?
I, too, own the 750 and use it with the 16-35 and 28-300, and I throw the 50mm 1.4G in for low light and narrow DOF. My only wish is for a bit more speed on the long end of the 28-300, but only rarely does that affect me. I wouldn't be concerned about 7mm of overlap, and you will definitely appreciate the difference between 16mm and 28mm.
Then again, depending on how deep your pockets are, you could go with the 14-24 f2.8 for wide, and surely not miss 4mm between the two. The only caveat being no filter protection for that front element.
Both 14-24 and 16-35 are great lenses, with the 14-24 being generally recognized as the better of the two.

hi garry is my name i am asking all that has experience with the d750 &lenses like 24/120 or 18/140 or maybe 18/300 24/300 low light ,sports, hiking.any thoughts thanks garry
watch your lenses when you purchase them and make sure they are not dx lenses. your d750 will shoot with dx lenses but that negates the purpose of a full frame camera, as you will automatically be switched to dx mode and lose more than half of your pixel count.
try renting lenses before you purchase and you will gain some perspective on what you are looking for before you shell out lots of bucks on new lenses
