Has anyone used this Aurora HDR program. I had the NIK HDR program on my old Mac. What do you think of the AURORA program. I just brought home the IMAC 27 Retina 5K, I did not even inbox it yet! Is it worth down loading the Aurora program. I would like your thoughts. All the Best Happy New Year UHH.

I had a pc and a mac, and had to admit the Mac had better graphics.
But I couldn't afford to keep two upgraded, and unfortunately developed a sweet tooth for video games, and Mac just wasn't even in the ballpark. I never looked back, but it did have a processor in Iphoto called Caffeine that had I a graphic equalizer for visual tones that I have never seen duplicated, and it had a pleasing effect on color I hadn't seen since. I still go back to my year 2000 Mac to process a picture. But I wouldn't have thought I had really lived without playing The Elder Scrolls! Like being in a photograph and controlling your own movie, complete with magic, swords, armor, and dragons like you wouldn't believe. I know I am a dreamer, but I am not the only one!

Have most of the Macphun apps. Have been very pleased with them. Easy to use,and great tech support. Quite sure you won't regret getting them. A lot of them have a free trail. Well worth a try.

Aurora HDR gets great reviews, and the price is right. I'd go for it! MacPhun makes some nice software that seems especially useful if you decide to use Apple Photos, because some MacPhun apps become Photos Extensions.

Affinity Photo is a "must have" — even if you have Adobe CC with LR and PS. It's a new image editor for the Mac that is chocked full of goodies. It's $40 right now... a steal!

Another "must have" if you do a lot of batch conversions, or if you just want a great slide show tool, or you need a "Swiss Army Knife" of cool imaging tools, is Thorsten Lemke's Graphic Converter 9 (9.7.4 is current, I think). It's also $40.

The new Photos app on the Mac is crippled, compared with Aperture, which died with OS 10.11. It might be a little better than iPhoto, which it really replaces, but is so different I haven't used it. Adding the MacPhun apps might make it very useful, however.

I really enjoyed the Aperture program, I used it for years and was sorry to see it gone. What a mistake. That's why I went to Lightroom

Years ago at DIMA, the Digital Image Marketing Association conference associated with the PMAI trade show, I took a four-hour course on Aperture 2.0 in the morning, and a four-hour course on Lightroom 2.0 in the afternoon. I left that day, knowing that, like Sony Betamax, which was better than VHS video tape, Aperture 2.0 was better than Lightroom 2.0.

However, most of the photo industry had already gone PEECEE when Apple had it's dark days in the late 1990s, before the Second Coming of Steve Jobs. Since Apple was unwilling to make a Windows version of Aperture in the mid-2000s, the volume was not there, and it withered over the long haul... Apple accelerated the market share loss by not keeping it fully up to date.

Lightroom is a phenomenal program, now, on both platforms. I use it on the Mac. One of the ways Adobe were able to knock off Apple on the Apple platform was to actually put out a public beta of the program, take real feedback in huge quantities from real professionals, and put really good features into the software in response to that feedback.
