Ok, where is the folder when you select a picture? Is it still on the card, or have you already moved the photos from the card to the computer? If you have already copied them to the computer, how did you do it? Once we can establish this, we can move on to the next area of "huh?" :-)

I down't blame you for not understanding my great grand son was assisting and some how send got hit.

I open elements click open select photo from folder hit save. Photo is in elements as a jpeg when I go to file in elements and open RAW it reverts back to the folder in my pictures.

You are all mixed up on what raw files are and how to access them. I don't think anything we say can help you because you're too confused. I suggest you do a simple search on Youtube.com on how to use PSE14.

Before you do that I'll tell you what your workflow should be: first of all, work flow means "the order you do things"

1. To get pictures into your computer: remove card from camera, insert card into computer or a card reader that is part of the computer or an external component of the computer.
2. When card is inserted, a pop up should become visible asking what you want to do. Careful find and choose for it to use PSE14 to open the contents of the card.
3. Import the pictures to the computer being careful to write down the folder name you're putting them. I would suggest you start using a different folder every time you import. I'd still use the Pictures folder, but nest a new folder under Pictures and call it something like
2105 12 25 Christmas

When that is done, if PSE isn't' already opened then open it and tell it to go to the Organizer. In the Organizer you will see a bunch of thumbnail versions of each picture you just downloaded/imported. Double click on any of the raw (nef) images and they will open in a special program that is built into PSE that is called ACR (Adobe Camera Raw). It is designed to edit the raw image in a non destructive way. After you edit the image in ACR, then you can tell it to open in the Full Editor. The Full Editor is the pixel editing part of PSE that allows you to do more to your image like add text, put the picture on a different background, put a picture frame on it etc.

Now go to Youtube.com and just watch a few videos on how to use PSE14.

I installed it yesterday and am not able to load raw files. Adobe site says it supports my D7100 in raw. Thanks in advance for you assistance.

Your D7100 does support Raw (NEF). Are you seeing the NEF files in your SD card? If not, go to the cameras Shooting Menu, select "Image Quality" and make sure that one of the NEF(RAW) modes is selected.
