Pond mist rising

I have a picture in mind that someday I would love to compose that involves capturing the mist coming off a pond. I will probably have to layer it, but were there any settings, filters that you used, etc . . . to capture the fog? I just need a point of reference to get me started.

I used a Fujifilm dslr camera that has a built- in zoom that was set on auto focus.
