i went out this am and when i got back at 10 am, the deer were all over the yard sunning themselves.
at least 8-10 of them.
Later this afternoon grannie and her daughter and a young fawn were eating the seeds under the bird feeder, that the birds had tossed out. Along comes a young buck ( no it was not grannies boy) and he decided to lay claim to the droppings .
Just to show you how mean they can get - here are a series of shots .

Amazing shots!!! That is really interesting to see. I am surprised he picks on the little ones too. But I guess they are easier to move without fighting back. Thank you Marilyn! Always enjoy!!!!
Great set you have here Mare. Great capture of the yard bully. Hope he knows that Santa deer was watching.
What a great sight it was to come home to your private herd..

He cut grannie out first( 3rd photo down) and then the daughter moved out of the way. The little guy was just so hungry that he kept eating- and thats when the buck gave it to him.
After a few minutes grannie came back in with the fawn and he cut the fawn out again and thats when Grannie took out after him.
You don't mess with Grannie when shes mad!

Thanks Mare,
I hope Santa ties the bully on behind the sleigh and teaches him a lesson.
colo43, these are nice sets of pictures of the deer and bully buck. Most folks don't realize how dangerous a deer can be under the right circumstances. You do a beautiful job of photographing the deer in their many different moods. Thanks for sharing. Tejaswrangler :)
"It's survival of the fittest. That means ME!" Were he human, he'd be a politician. Nice series, Mare, and best wishes for a very Merry Christmas!

Boy you have that right.. But the bigger they are the harder they fall. Grannie proved that to him last night and the fawn ate on.. and on and on.. Everyone left and there he was in the near dark still finding shells of the seeds to eat.
Merry Christmas to you , Randy..
