Awesome shots. You are definitely in the "Regis" class. Thanks for sharing them with us.

I had the opportunity to photography the eagles up in Regis' area for a few days this week. I'm not trying to compete with Regis' images (I'm not that crazy), but I'm pretty happy with what I was able to capture with a little lesser equipment. Especially with the rain, snow and cloudy skies.

All were taken with Canon 7D MKII and 100mm-400mm lens. Most were taken with camera attached to Manfrotto monopod.

I like yours as they are not over sharpened and look much more as the feathers actually are.

Thanks Fourpar. #4 is also my favorite. It shows the perspective of where the eagles are in the tress overlooking the lake where they are watching for fish to surface on the lake below. Unfortunately most of the light was coming from the back side of the eagle, making it difficult to get the exposure and sharpness. I believe #5 is the same eagle as he swooped down to the lake for a fish. I had spot focus set on the camera and managed to track the eagle through the trees with it (just luck).

This was also the hardest shot from near the top of Higgins Point. I had to come up a steep slope from below the eagles to get the shot. If you come over the top of the point at the level or higher than the eagles, they will leave their perch immediately.

Thanks for your comment Sue. Eagles are widespread in the U.S. I'm sure there are eagles in PA, just find your closest wildlife refuge. I see them occasionally here in Oregon, but we don't have an area where there are concentrated at a salmon run. I can see them here, but it's really hard to photograph them here.

Excellent photos MtManMD. For some reason #3 just pops out at me. The eagle is looking so intently at what my be something to eat.

Thanks Tom. That's a classic eagle shot. I'm pretty sure that is a female, and it is perched on a tree near the lake edge, looking into the water. It stayed there for a long time, mostly looking out at the lake, but occasionally looking directly at us photographers with their piercing eyes.

There are certain specific trees that they tend to perch in. This is one of them and is the only one in that area (according to my few days there) where it is near the road, giving us an easy opportunity to photograph. I was the #2 photographer on the spot, giving me the second best vantage point. Would have loved to be able to move farther to the left and had a better green background, especially with the front lighting, but there was a very steep snow covered slope to the lake one step to the left.
