I lost my brother yesterday and found the only picture of him in the Military that the family could find,,but it is in pretty rough shape. We are having a Memorial lunch in his name(Richard Shinkle)and I wonder if anyone could please like to try their skills on improving it so we could use it in the service.I have tried and failed terribly. Please,,can anyone help?

I got a few scratches out but they are others here that can do a lot more
with it. Sorry for your loss and we thank him for his service. Dennis

I'm sorry I can't help with this; my skills are no where advanced enough.

I do want to tell you that I am very sorry for your loss and I want to thank your brother for his service to our country.

I pray that God brings you and your family peace and that He holds your brother close to his heart.

While I'm sure someone with some skills will try to help, I wanted to tell you that I've had some success with older photos of my Dad in similar condition by scanning the photos as a black and white copy on the printer. It seemed to ignore a lot of the defects and came through as a much cleaner copy. Worth a try.

I had a similar situation with my grandmothers picture. It was in pieces.I found a studio that specialized in repairing damaged photos. They did a beautiful job.I don't know where you live but go online and google repairing photos.good luck.

to get a proper shot, you will have to scan at 300 dpi at least, then use the healing tool on photoshop.

The image is kinda small to have a proper restoration.

Gave it a go, really needs to be scanned at 600dpi, regards, John.

Way-to-Go Earnest, I know that took a lot of work, great job. You may want to provide a downloadable version for the OP if she likes it.
