I have an out of date camera, that is not doing the job I want it to, when I bought it, it was top of the line.
I need a camera that takes great indoor and outdoor photos. I want to be able to change out lens. Price range @ $1000-1500, or less if possible. Need advice on mega-pix, name brand, and any pros and cons of your choice. The last one I bought, everyone said it was great, then after I buy it, I get messages saying that it was better out of doors, rather than indoor. This would have been nice to know.
I have an Epson Artisan 800 that I have wore out, and needs replacing also. Any suggestions?

Go to the local camera shop and find out what feels good in your hand, look around and see if there are any used cameras available . Also check on line to see if there are any refurbished cameras that you like. the rest of stuff, you have to figure out what you are going to use the camera for. If you want a Canon, check out their refurbished ones on line. I like Canon, other like Nikon, you can't go wrong with either. You can also find various rental companies and you can rent the body and a lens for a week and try it out. See what u are getting into.

I gave up printing at home, I use the local photo department at Costco or Meridan Pro. Don't waste your money on a printer, buy a good lens to go with your new camera body!

What do you have now? Will new glass or a CLA help?

If not, buy a cheap name-brand body and put the best glass on it you can afford.

Your budget will pretty much dictate what camera you will be able to buy ! With that said you can still buy a descent system. Check with camera store, handle a few cameras and talk it up with a knowledgeable sales person and they may narrow down your choices. Good luck.

For under $800 you can pick up a Canon 60D. It has 18 mp, shoots over 5 frames a second, operates very well, even in low light, and has an articulated screen to expand the kind of shots you will be able to frame.

AS far a camers go I am a Nikon man and will always be one. In my opinion they have the best low light DSLR's on the market with a wide variety of lenses either from Nikon or after market. As far a printer goes I really like and use the Canon printers. Canon is afterall an imaging company and their printers surpass other brands. I have seen people rave about HP photoSmart, lexmark and others. If you want quality output then put the money in on the front end.

Garbage in, garbage as the saying goes.

Good Luck!!

I bought the Nikon D3100 with the 18-55mm kit lens as my first dslr and it has worked well for me. I have added a 55-200 lens for all aroud use, a 60mm micro, and a 70-300 zoom to round out my kit.
My printer id a HP6000 wireles inkjet. No problems.

And none of the above broke the bank.

Check out the just released Nikon D3200, its an amazing camera for the price!!
As far as printing? I use Costco almost exclusively anymore. I proof at hone on an Epson but don't sell anything off of it. The paper and ink are just WAY too expensive when you compare the cost to outsourcing your printing. Plus, if you don't like the result they will reprint it for free with corrections.

Does Costco use the art papers offered by Epson or something similar?

I recommend:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/856049-REG/Nikon_25492_D3200_DSLR_Camera_With.html

It is likely the best bang for the buck DSLR in the world today.

Then you should have enough money left over to get another Epson. The newer Epsons, with Vivid Magenta, cannot be equaled, photographically, using any other printer.

B&H is overpriced! If you want to buy on-line use: cameta.com or keh.com. I have good experience with both and they were recommended to me by others when I was starting out.
Find what you want locally and then purchase on-line it will always be less.
