Kind of like shopping for food?

A couple of years ago I read that there are more pictures taken just with the iPhone than all pictures combined with every camera ever. Think about that.
I was being sarcastic - I just can't believe that in this day and age ANYONE would ask a photographer those 2 question. Hope this clears things up for you.

Yes, it is true, phones take more images than cameras do . . .

I take pictures of everything and anything that catches my eye. I do it because photography to me is soul food.i lose my self in the moment and it makes my heart sing. I also like preserving little moments of life that are gone in a blink of an eye.

Taking photos of family, family occasions and taking a vacation memories is obvious. Sharing them with family and friends is also expected.
I enjoy traveling to do Landscapes, wild animals and nature. People ask me why do I go and do that? I answer is is passion and I enjoy it.
They follow up with a question what do you do with them? I answer I enjoy looking at them and put them on a website for friends who ask to go look at them.
That got my interest up about the UHH. Why do you take Photos and What do you do with them?
Taking photos of family, family occasions and taki... (show quote)

I do mostly video these days as it was my career in broadcast and off-line television. I do mine to be posted to my You Tube channel and because I'm really interested in the subjects I shoot.

PixelStan77: I get asked the same question often and my answer is because I find peace as I take photos, I don't need to be with someone to enjoy this experience nor when I do some PP of the photos at home. There is something about being in with nature all sorts that I enjoy.

I have Matted and framed many of my photos, and when I walk by them at home, I smile and think to myself, I did that!!!! I don't need to sell them but if someone saw one of them and wanted to buy it, I would sell it, because I know I could matte and frame another pict (could be the same one or a different one) in its' place.

Isn't life great....

I hardly ever take pix of family . Otherwise: nature, flowers, , birds, bees, landscapes---whatever catches my eye. I look for color, shapes---whatever. I like sunsets, clouds, snow, leaves--you name it.
What do I do with them: enjoy them, enter them in
local contests; very, very rarely sell one. Had a one-man show at our local library once. Shoot current events for our local newspaper. I probably have 1000 pix in my computer.
My favorite pic is the very next one I shoot.

YES!!
To engage myself with the world - to explore. I find myself becoming fascinated with
the things around me that otherwise would have been ignored.

To learn - whether about the subject, the camera, post-processing.
It is satisfying when things come together and you get the result you are
looking for.

Most images only serve as feedback for what I did wrong. Some get posted
online to share and for encouragement and further growth. And I share so that
I can participate in the images that others create. Images that inspire me to
do more with my own work.

And very rarely an image gets printed and framed for the wall or for a gift.

I didn't start taking pictures until I bought a Kodak Pony 135 in 1954. You might say that I became addicted. I have used a Speed Graphic 4x5 Pacemaker, Mamiya C3, Mamiya Rb67, Sinar 4x5 monorail view, and T5i.
I take pictures 1.because I think it is fun. 2. Taking pictures allows me to be creative. 3. I get paid to do it.
I sell some. I store some. I make videos of some:

There is nothing more boring to me than being subjected to someone else's countless vacation and family snapshots. I would never do that to my friends and family.

Is anyone here old enough to remember sitting through an evening when the Kodak Carousel slide projector came out and then you noticed there were 2 carousels full of slides? Without alcohol, it would have been more painful. :?

When my father passed 20 years ago we got out his slides, projector and screen, along with his stock of scotch, a hour later we were having a grand time reminiscing.
