Picked up a Yongnuo 50mm f/1.8 over weekend. £35 ($50) purely as an experiment to see how good this lens actually is. Very pleased with first results and definitely worth the money for cheap nifty fifty. Used with Canon 5D MK3
In the downloaded format the definition looks spot-on to me.
At thirty five pounds, that is, a good buy.
Like the photographs.
Thanks, really pleased with IQ. Had a Canon 50mm f/1.8 which in my opinion was optically identical, for twice the cost!
Definitely a winner, even when blown up. I think I'll be looking at getting one.
Your nifty 50 seems to have great IQ regardless of the price. I think a lot of UHHers will get one after seeing your pics.
I agree, maybe it is a bit hit and miss with Yongnuo quality Control, but fortunate seem to have bought a good copy. I am tempted get the 35 mm f/2 based on the 50mm
I would be interested if any other UHH members have experience with this lens
I also have this lens. Great IQ and a great price.
Great photos! Definitely a good buy.
i like the IQ. Do they have a faster lens? I already have the Canon 1.8, it would be nice to get a 1.2 or faster.

The following are, in addition to being examples of why I do not ordinarily post photos, the results of my trials with the Yongnuo 50mm f/1.8. Each set of photos is a unique view, taken (assuming they load right) in aperture priority at f/1.8, f/8 and f/16. The landscape photos were taken at ISO 100; the portrait at ISO 125.
I make no comment or judgment as to the quality of the images; others are more qualified to do that.
I do apologize for the delay in posting these photos. Medical problems delayed me. Then I took six complete sets of photos; these were the only ones that I could use.
