Greetings from Milwaukee. Have been following the forum for about a month and found it to be informative and helpful. Been in photography for over 50 years, started with a Kodak instamatic and just picked up a a refurbished Canon 70d. The equipment sure has changed, instant satisfaction. I am in need of oem batteries and found a site with great prices, Thephotoland.com. Wondering if anyone has dealt with this company? Thanks and have a great day.

Wlecome to the Hog, forts-follies. You'll find lots of friends & plenty of good advice here. Have no knowledge of thephotoland.com. Most Hoggers stick with Adorama, B&H Photo Video, Cameta, or KEH. Tried, trusted sources.

Welcome to the Hog Milwaukee. I asked a similar question recently about my Canon 6D and non OEM batteries. It came down to reading the reviews and relying on others experiences. Amazon is a good place to go for this kind of information.

Welcome to the Hog, forts. For the few extra bucks involved I would stick with OEM from trusted sources such as those nicksr enumerated. ;)

Welcome to UHH.
I've never heard of thephotoland, and I'm always wary of places that sell at lower prices than normal. FWIW I buy most of my photo gear at B&H.

A difference of opinion here. I buy all my camera batteries from bestbatt.com. They don't sell OEM batteries. I've never gotten a bad battery from them, and their batteries seem to give me more exposures than an OEM battery in my Canon camera(s).

Oh, and the price is right too.

Just checked Thephotoland.com against B&H. Thephotoland.com lists the SL1 for $499.99. B&H lists it for $399.00 and offers free expedited shipping. I live in Columbus, OH. For me that means I have product in 2 business days. I work for Batteries Plus. We sell batteries for most DSLR's. I have 3 of our Rayovac brand that work just as well as the original Sony batteries.

Computer guy here. Never had a problem with a third party battery for a laptop or DSLR, just read the specs and go to a reputable source like those listed. I've had good luck with Vivitar batteries and after market chargers through Amazon. Good luck.

Welcome to our forum!

I buy gear from reputable sellers, like Adorama, Amazon, B&H, Cameta, Hunt's, Roberts, etc. When it comes to batteries, I usually buy aftermarket batteries from Amazon. Never a problem.

First - welcome. As regards batterys- Camera makers do not make batterys. there are very few manufacturers of batterys and the various camera makers by them from those battery companies. That having been said. I use third party batterys and have never had a problem. 2 for about $25. I saved about $100. If that kind of money is meaningless to you buy OEM batterys from the ABC (Adorama, B&H, Cameta). If for no other reason than you might sleep better. That's my .02 cents.

Welcome to the Hog! lots of good advice and friendly people here.

I, too, have never heard of Thephotoland.com. As mentioned there are a lot of places that Hogs recommend. I think Jerry gave the most complete list.
Last year I bought a Canon SX50 and was looking for extra batteries. Someone (I think it was Linda from Maine) suggested Wasabi batteries. I bought a package on Amazon with 2 batteries and a charger at a very reasonable price. I use them all the time and have had no problems with them.

Amazon is also a good, reliable, honest company to deal with.

Cameta is often a supplier to Amazon. I buy direct from Cameta, usually, free freight.
