Yesterday, in prep of getting cataracts removed, the Ophthalmologist "super dilated" my eyes. The results were amazing with street lights and car lights. When I got home, the Christmas trees were jumping at me with beautiful "star" effects.
I grabbed my camera and made photos at f22 to try and capture the effect. Although they did look "starry" like, my eyes were seeing things much brighter and bigger than I could capture with my camera.
Fortunately, the effect hasn't worn off yet. I would love to find a way to keep it forever. It really is too neat to lose.

Maybe your new lenses will be made by Zeiss.
Oh, that would be great! It has been more than 24 hours and I still have the star effect on every light. Really cool.

I've tried to find those drops as an over-the-counter purchase, but now luck so far. :D
If you have an old cheap lens, you could try damaging the outer glass. A hammer and sandpaper can work wonders.

LSD will work just as well.
Did you get the surgery in just one eye and did you get a lens implant. If yes, have you compared something that is supposed to be white with each eye alone. When I did that what looked white in the un-lens-implant eye looked quite dirty yellow in the lens-implanted eye. Also, when the job was done I could get along without glasses except for special situations. You are going to get much more enjoyment out of your photography now. Good luck.

I had that starry effect for a long time, but it eventually went away.
