I am seeing blurbs on this camara which hooks onto an iPhone or iPad. Any one have any experience with this $600 GAS reliever.

There was a thread about that recently

Look for iPhone tethering adapter.

Did a Hog search on DxO and got a lot software type posts and a couple on the One. Then I trotted over to Amazon and checked the few reviews. Biggest downer is the fixed focal length lens (1.8).

After watching the review on Digitalrev, I'm less inclined to get one for my iPhone. Looks like too much trouble and too few advantages.

It just comes down to whether you want to have better pictures on your cellphone than what your cellphone can produce by itself. Although this is smaller than what Sony and Olympus produces, it seems to produce good images. Is it worth the money? If you want pictures better than your cellphone's pictures, it might be worth your while.

One big issue is that either the camera or the phone may detatch and fall. It is not mechanically stable. Also, I believe there is a physical interference that requires the phone to not have a protective case.

Yeah, I just don't get that. It's an awful lot of money for a phone attachment. It's gotten great reviews, though.

Sorry, Rac, I don't own a DxO One camera (or a smartphone). I do own a copy of DxO OpticsPro 10 photo editing software. Just received the software and am moving up the proverbial learning curve.

Oh sorry about that, my mistake.

Steveg48's remark is the absolute deal breaker for me. Together the two represent over a grands investment - this dropsy-breaksy has just relieved all GAS. Thanks, Steve.

The camera is probably an OK attachment to an iPhone. My only concern is the Lightning connector. One minor oops and you've probably damaged the camera or the iPhone or both!

It just doesn't look a viable alternative to a good camera!!
