For me the main issue is that with your widest lens for video or stills, the FF gives a wider field of view than a crop sensor. Conversely with your longest lens, the crop sensor gives an apparent greater magnification. I use the DX for most things, but the CX for all my bird shots and telephoto shots. When a used FF with video capability gets down into my price range I will get it for the super wide views.

Yup! For me it is all about the lens acting like what I'm used to. I have told many new shooters not to worry about the crop factor unless they are reading some book or some specs on a lens and then they might want to know if the FOV example they are looking at is crop or FF. Other than that it shouldn't be an issue. As I mentioned in an earlier post, for the way I shoot which is purely a hobby and not professional I see no big difference in quality between the 50D and 6D with the same lens at the lower ISOs as the 6D has greatly improved low light capability but that is a whole other issue.
