My first public shoot, have shot every plant in backyard, this one in public. I think auto.
Where is the hula skirt??
Awesome photo. The hula skirts can be made of many materials, like from Kapa, linen or grass. The dancers skirt looks like it could be light green linen.
At least 50% of the hula dance takes place with the lower portion of the dancer. I was simply looking for the "rest of the story".

Aaaah you got a point there
Shaky is right. As a classical dancer I can tell you that when the local newspaper photographer cuts you off at the waist it's always a disappointment. Drsurf, try rotating the camera 90 degrees for a tall frame instead of a wide one. Fine pic otherwise!
GREAT Photo Journalistic shot......I love pictures that tell a story
This is a nice image. I think you captured the expression and the hand gesture very well. As far as the rest of the body...sometimes it's good to leave the rest to your imagination. The focus in this image is the face and the hands and I like that. I dance Hula and I would think this image is a keeper! Just my opinion.
