I finally decided my time has come to acquire this beast: A Nikon D810 with a $500.00 rebate + free Nikon GPS ($249.99) + $56 shopping bonus. A total of $2,796 for every thing. Has anyone seen a better price? Ready to take the plunge with Adorama!

Sounds great. I wish I had a spare 3 grand lying around. I have other priorities -- food, shelter, that kinda stuff

Correct, looks like it would cost our D810 man $100.00 for a 3 year drop program. That would get him to the next generation D81? something.

Also waiting for the new generation, not a marketing ploy as D810 is.

'Good enough' indeed.

The next generation is going to have at least a tiltable LCD screen to get me to upgrade from by pair of D-810's.

Still have a good D-800 E available.

Probably not but who knows until you get it. I got my D810 as a refurb for $2350. Works absolutely perfectly. Loved my D700, but the d810 is a lot better. Can't imagine a need for anything any better than the D810. Can't imagine what could be done to make it any better. Maybe a fold down screen like the D5500, but for the increased money involved, I would probably just buy a D5500 for the few shots I would use it for. Leon

Not grey market. This $500 discount is a Nikon USA authorized discount. B&H, Adorama and others are all selling USA model at the same price right now. Throwing in extras has always been part of their selling strategies. I ordered mine from B&H with about the same freebies. Will be delivered Tuesday. 😎

Good deals on current models precipitate the release of new models. However that being said the D810 is a the best camera out there bar none - I mean that when you consider the DR.

I think you'll absolutely love your D810. I've had one for a while now. Having been through an unfortunately large number of camera's, it's by far the best camera I've ever owned. In fact, as I see new camera models appear and get praise in reviews, it's the first time ever I don't feel a single pang of GAS. Make sure you have good lenses for it. And, enjoy!

My D810 is a big improvement over my D800, in many subtle ways.

I didn't care much for the D800, while the D810 is a joy to use, quieter, sharper, better feeling in the hand.

Not from Adorama. I already clarified that.
