There's something about a waterfall... mesmerizing!

Thank you sands for having a look and commenting. You are so right about waterfalls. I have a real attraction to them and find myself drawn to capturing as many as I can find.

You did a nice job with your settings...maintained just enough motion blur of the flowing water. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Bob for the visit and kind comments. I am of the opinion (and this is strictly my opinion) that water should look like water and not like marshmallow cream. I have a maximum shutter speed I will use making it necessary to up my ISO to maintain it.

What a lovely hike. I think #5 is my favorite, but I like them all. And I'm so glad you didn't try to make whipped cream out of the water!

Thank you AzPicLady for the view and nice comments. As I have explained in previous replies I don't believe in making the water so smoothed out it loses the look of water. I have a maximum shutter speed that I will not go beyond.

Thank you woodweasel for stopping in and commenting. I am a real sucker for waterfalls so if I find one nearby and have the time I will get to it. I enjoy sharing these with UHH.

These are beautiful photos, Andrea! Glad you got off the beaten trail to find them! That area is so very rich in beauty! We've spent time in George Washington National Forest and it was wonderful, too!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Yesterday I drove to Washington, DC to spend the holiday with my sister and her family and I was determined to find something worth shooting along the way. I was not disappointed. While driving through the Shenandoah Valley on I-81 I discovered that at the Arcadia exit there were several hikes in and around the Appalachian Trail that led to a waterfall named Apple Orchard Falls. this is located in the Jefferson National Forest. I drove in on gravel roads quite a distance in order to keep the hiking to a minimum since I was expected to arrive in the DC area at some point. There are varying lengths of hikes that can be taken but my route left me with a 3/4 mile hike in to the actual falls with many smaller cascades to photograph along the way. I think these would be nice to capture in spring, summer and during fall color so I will likely come back for another look later on. Please enjoy these in download.

Please be patient as I am going to load 9 - 11 images if the website will allow them all.

This reminds me of Glen Onoko near Jim Thorpe, PA. I used to go there once or twice a year. The falls come down the crotch where two hills meet. There is a drop of around 800 ft. top to bottom and in places the climb is rather difficult. Along the way are dozens of small falls ranging from around 2 to 4 ft. There are three larger falls one about 11 ft., one around 24 ft., and at the top of the glen, a 33 ft. fall. There are two prime times to visit there. The entire glen is filled with Rhododendron which bloom late May to early June, and then fall which can be wonderful in the Pocono Mts. of PA.

Thank you Sue for the visit and nice comments. I just knew I had to find some way to make my trip a photographic journey since I was by myself and had the time. I was very pleasantly surprised by this find and I want to explore more areas around there.

Thank you Mike for the visit and comments. The falls you describe sound like they are really nice. One of these days I am going to get up that way for a photo trip and I will have to look up these falls. I am drawn to waterfalls in a way I am to no other natural scenery. I think I captured enough of them this year to fill a calendar.

Thank you jjwright71 for checking out my images and the positive comments. I love to seek out these out of the way places and the solitude on the day before all the hustle and bustle of Thanksgiving was truly wonderful.

Let me know when you're coming. I will be glad to act as a guide for a day. In the meantime look up Rickets Glen, Bushkill Falls, Dingman's Falls. These are all in this area less than two hours from the Lehigh Valley.

Thank you for the offer to be a guide in the area, I will take you up on it. In the meantime I will definitely look up the three falls you have mentioned here. I like to have an idea what I am preparing to photograph.
