Defective Yongnuo Flash

I do have Yongnuo triggers and some a couple of inexpensive (cheap) studio strobes ($85) form another company.

I realize that the parts like capacitors are not the best quality nor is the construction. They just look good. However, they are good enough to use so I can determine if I want to get something good. It also gives me a better feel on what features I want or don't want.

However, if I'm going to get paid for something, I never bring the clones. Or if I do, I have a backup. I only use my Canon speed-lights in the field. Expensive but reliable. I have some very basic Godox speedlights. They will work in a limited basis but can't withstand heavy use. But they serve the purpose I bought them for.

I have eight YN triggers, 603cII. Six work as both a receiver and a transmitter. Two only work as a receiver. So I marked them as a receiver and only use them for that.

And I agree with OddJobber. If I can get reasonable use out of them and they fail then "I consider them to be throw aways".

On July 7, 2015 I received the YN600EX-RT flash from Amazon. At first, with some test shots, it seemed to work OK. A month or so when I again tried it out, it seemed to work off and on? Two days ago, I took it to a benefit and it, again, worked on and off? Took it home that night and put (tested) new batteries in and it would not even turn on. Since it's over 70+ days old, Amazon turns a blind eye and Yongnuo has no service centers in the US. Looks like I'm stuck with this flash. Anybody got any ideas as to how I can get it fixed or replaced? Bought this as a back-up flash to my older Canon flash.

As mentioned by another UHH member, it may not be worth the cost of repairing it - but do see if you can get a quote. Also, as another UHH member stated; do take a look at the Nissin Flashes. I have the Di622 Mk2 and the newer Di600 that I use with my Nikon DSLR's, and plan to purchase the Nissin i40 specially for its hi-speed sync facility - to use with my Nikon D7100.
I've found these Flash units to perform well & are good value-for-money.
(I've been using the Di622 Mk2 for 3 years now - without any problems)

I had a defective YN-568 Yongnuo flash that I got from a 3rd party on eBay. I contacted the seller. They gave me a hard time, but I know there is a 1 year warranty on these flashes. I kept emailing them and threatened to give them bad feedback if they did not take action. They finally replaced the flash. The replacement is still going strong. Make them honor the warranty. Just be persistent.
I also have the YN-565 flash and the YN622 triggers and they all work great. They make a good product, you were just unlucky. The seller needs to replace the unit.

All equipment has a certain life. Most manufacturers do reliability testing and understand:
Early failures and the percent. They may have to re engineer something to cut down on warranty repairs
Next they understand the life of the unit.
Next they understand the End of Life when the item will die.

That is why companies tell you what the warranty is. Nothing lasts forever.
