Can you identify this animal.
I was out trying to get some shots of an alligator when I saw this thing creeping through the weeds. Just got this one shot of it. Have no idea what it is. Never seen one. Was in Florida.
I can't see it well enough to tell, but could it be a fisher cat?

Looks like a river otter to me.
What I first thought Otter but I don't think I ever saw one before. Thanks
I think the first guess was accurate, Fisher Cat which is a member of the Marten family. Similar to a Weasel.
I'm almost certain this is an otter. They are fairly common here in central FL. I don't believe Fisher Cats are found this far South.
Is an otter. Got a Cannon with ultrasonic focus assist and it would draw the animals out of the water to see what it was. My first good Otter pic was with that cam. The lady even rolled over and showed me she had pups nursing. She did everything but point at her nips.
Is this what you saw? If so it is a Nutria.
Very common in Florida.
My first thought was river otter.

I agree, fisher's natural range is much further north, like Montana and Idaho. Could this be a nutria?
