Is the program Topaz an addendum to LR or do the programs offer the same type of sharpening images? While I am asking, include Onone in the mix.
Evaluation of plugins are a bit confusing o me. :?:

Topaz has many plugins. Which one are you talking about?

That's how much I know! Explain plugins for me. My connotation is incorrect.

A plug in works with lightroom or photoshop. It is in addition to lightroom. It is like an action that will do most of the processing you want then you can edit the look for what you want. I use plugins every day as it saves me allot of time in my workflow. I happen to love the Topaz products. Topaz adjust is awesome. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Add my kudos for Topaz products. They work from within Lightroom (or Photoshop, or Elements for that matter). Lightroom has a bunch of presets that one can apply to an image, but I find that the presets in the Topaz products are infinitely more adjustable. This is both good and bad because one can spend an inordinate amount of time fretting over an image. I particularly like Topaz Adjust, Topaz B&W, and Topaz ReMask. The company offers numerous free webinars that are both educational and inspirational.

Thank you for the explanation. I am very impressed with Topaz when I visited their website. I downloaded Lightroom for a free trial several days ago and really like it but my computer crashed today so I am wondering if the age of my computer has anything to do with with the "blackout"?
I may be over my head and drowning?? There are so many goodies to buy and too many big decisions on what is most important o purchase first.. It's great to have smart friends. Thanks friends.

If you decide to buy any Topaz products, whether one or a bundle, sign up and attend oe of their web innards. After intends, they will send you a discount code good for 30% off. If you can't wait to start using one or more, download the free trial(s) and follow up with thewebinar. I just did ths and got $90 off the bundle.

I really like the features of several of their products but Remask is my favorite as it is fast and relatively easy to do complex extractions. PS has the same capabilities but just not as convenient. Adjust has some great presets I like too.

To use Topaz plugins in Lightroom you must download the Fusion
Express plugin from their site (its free).

Just to add to the mix, OnOne is offering their Perfect Layers 2 as a free download-- it alows you to do layers in Lightroom, without having to go to Photoshop. I haven't used it yet, but for those who don't want to pay for one of the photoshop versions, it offers a way to do things Lightroom can't.

Thanks for that info! I almost bought it yesterday at 15% off. Glad I didn't! $210 is getting almost affordable.

Several people in my camera club are Ga-ga over Topaz. One of them denoised and sharpened one of my photos for me. It was MUCH better than I could accomplish with elements.

The focus fixer looks truly amazing too.

A "plug in" is an "add on extra" to another program (Photoshop, Lightroom etc) that does something specific to a photo.

Topaz is a company that makes them and there are many others.

As much as I love and use Topaz, beware of the "over processed" some of the defaults produce and the noise that is unavoidably created as a result of sharpening/focusing.

Topaz ROCKS! I tried the free trial for Topaz Adjust and B&W Effects...loved 'em both. I was able to revive images in my "Trash Folder". Stayed on the computer most of the day just experimenting. DxO Labs is another one that's really fun; Nik Software is another really good one. I use that a lot. Just try the free trials--all have something unique to offer. Most run independently or with PS, LR and others.

The top four are probably NIK, PhotoFX, OnOne and Topaz. When you buy, get the bundle for best value, what you buy depends on your budget. However, all are great and three charge you when they come out with upgrades. ONLY Topaz offers free upgrades (at the moment at least and have done for years), so they are a great company for doing that. You will not be dissapointed with any of them but the lowest priced one is Topaz and is an excellent set of plugins.
