I rarely use my 50mm lenses for portraits even though I carry it everywhere but today was different I forced myself to use it and not my 85mm.

Nice job! Very appealing portrait.
Awesome portrait! Congratulations.
That is a very nice family portrait and for a human or humans 3/4 view is ideal for the 50mm lens.
Most probably you are well aware of it but the 50mm lens is most probably the best corrected of all optics, they are all sharp and fast and when selecting the f1.8 lens the price is a bargain.
I began to use it more often with my full frame camera and I am very pleased with its performance and I have a 50mm f1.4 S, AI converted from 1974.
I would recommend your 85mm for head and shoulder portraits and perhaps full body from a distance but the 50mm lens excels in many areas and 3/4 view of the human body is one of them.
One of the best 3/4 shots I have seen. I tried hard to find any thing to improve upon and only came up with one small item. Personally I would clone out the dry limb that points to the man's head. As I said, you have taken one of the best photo's and with a lens that cost new under $200. Nice work. Leon

I agree with Leon's comments.
Nice work!
A handsome family and you captured them well! I have a 50mm f1.8 and rarely take it out...gonna start using it more. Once read an article by a famous landscape author who said the 50mm f1.8 was one of his favorite lenses for LS photography.
I should use my 50mm more. Very nice job.
