I didn't get an error message, simply the external writer would not copy the DVD neither would it play a DVD..............until the following day!

Last night I was trying to copy a DVD via DVDclone on my small LG external CD/DVD writer. The original DVD was of a programme I had recorded from the BBC and recorded on my Panasonic DVD recorder.

DVDclone read the DVD perfectly but then refused to copy it on to a vigin DVD disc.

Frustrated and thinking that the writer had finally broken, I ordered a new one. However, this morning, out of curiosity, I tried an original DVD in the writer again and it worked!!
If using USB on the writer, sometimes changing USB ports helps.
How come? Anyone give an explanation?

DVD Fab will copy virtually any disk, even copy protected disks.
I use it to back up my CD movies.
The copied movies have only the movie and rou don't have to go through any menus, the movie starts playing ad soon as the burner boots
It's a paid program with many options but it is well worth the price
Works on Macs and PCs

Thanks but I have already paid for CloneDVD and that works just fine for me, it does everything I want it to do. My problem was a purely temporary one and had nothing to do with the programme I use.

Is DVD Fab A Canadian software or available in the U.S. too?

Recordable DVD not "closed" permanently so it isn't cloneable yet? A DVD has to comply with a finished DVD standard to be cloned, so maybe that's it. You proved that an original pre-recorded DVD works fine.

As I explained in a previous post, I tried two different virgin DVDs taken from two different batches. The problem was not in the virgin discs but in the writer that eventually cured itself.

I wasn't discussing the virgin disks, I was talking about the one you were trying to clone.

In my OP you will see I said:

"Last night I was trying to copy a DVD via DVDclone on my small LG external CD/DVD writer. The original DVD was of a programme I had recorded from the BBC and recorded on my Panasonic DVD recorder."

The actual disc I was copying from was also originally a virgin DVD from the same batch I was trying to copy on.

Good, because ion spite of the fact that I have told you the disc I was trying to copy, you seem incapable of understanding. In any case, the subject matter is no longer worth discussing, the problem resolved itself.

I am not incapable of understanding. You aren't understanding that a writable DVD that you recorded needs to have a "close" action (finalize) take place before it can be copied, although it can be read and even watched without finalizing because you might want to add more recordings to it. Whether you're using virgin disks or not, which is irrelevant, this is the case. My suggestion was that the disk TO BE COPIED had not been properly finalized to be copyable. The same is true of CDs which use much the same technology.

Now if you can't grasp that because you misread what I wrote, it's your problem. I don't care. Don't ask a question and insult someone who tries to answer it for you.
