Inside a Magnolia bloom

Magnolia trees don't get as big in Tn as they do in Mississippi, but mine did. It's about 35 feet tall. It's due to the soil on our place. Memphis soil is the richest in the south, but we have Granada soil. It comes in at second best and anything that is labeled as "dwarf" turns out to be "giant" at my house.

In all the years we have had that tree, I had never peeked inside one either Erv, but I had a camera in my hand and you know the old saying "Have camera, will peek!" OH...did I just make that up?

tainkc, what on earth are you talking about. I'm not sure I am ever just nice to anybody. I'm one of those "if I say it, I mean it" people.

Thank you so much wrr! I didn't see that coming. I am a little surprised because the inside looked a lot lighter when started to post it. It looks a little dark inside to me now....I'll pretend that was on purpose to add mystery. ;)

Very nice shot. Love their scent and their beauty, but when the cones begin to drop it's like a minefield.

Ziggy, Thank you. I love the scent too. Right now, we have the Magnolia, a huge Privet tree (not hedge) and honeysuckle all blooming near the barn and it makes me want to spend the day there. I dug this tree up from under a neighbor's tree when it was 4 inches tall and transplanted it when it was about a foot tall. Yes, they look about like grenades all over the place when the cones drop. The birds really love the seeds though.

You always like my bird and flower pics. This one you posted is 10 times as good as anything I have ever posted. You also know what you are talking about. Even when I make things up, you never call me on it! Lol. Now that is being nice : )

Trust me on this one. When you post a photo and I say I really like it, I REALLY like it. I am probably the poorest photographer on the forum and admire everyone's work while wishing I could be as good at it. I am in deep disagreement with you when you say mine is 10 times better...no way, my friend, no way!
