This is a nice thing your are doing, good job. My Dad does something similar, he has prints made of some of his best and donates them to various silent auctions for charity fund raising.

You know, If it makes you feel good, you will either be arrested or happy or both. In this case you get one out of the two. Very little of that today. Enjoy.

Good idea. A while back I started taking pictures of our town. If I ever get finished, I'm going to give DVD's to the town office and the library. It gives me a specific reason to go out shooting.

Excellent idea. I'd give it in batches -- worry that I'd be "done" before I finished! ;-)

Fun is where you find it, and if you can make other people happy with what you do, even better. Go for it!

It's refreshing to hear this generosity when I see the opposite most of the time.

A small thing -- thanks!

Excellent thought, have given prints, but mostly dvds. Will have to look around this area for opportunity. Thanks.

Usually pretty cheerful -- been too long since I've done anything that could get me arrested! Thanks for commenting!

If someone really wants to buy one of mine, I'm happy to sell it. But mostly I give them as gifts or display them in galleries.

It's a great feeling to walk into a room and see your work on a wall.

First off, I'm not particularly interested in turning my hobby into a job. I haven't sold any photos since I was freelancing more than forty odd years ago. I'm not in a photography club, and am not into photo competitions. I entered one big Contest many years ago, placed second, won a bit of cash. That I could win, was enough, haven't done it since.
What I did start to do last year was take the absolutely best shots I am capable of and give them away.
Last year, to a local theatre group, and a Rodeo organizer. This year again to the theatre group, the VFD, the Shidoni Foundry and 3 Faces of Jazz in Santa Fe. Costs me very little to get contact info, burn a DVD and mail the shots off. Though I'm not planning on a huge number of events, I do intend to keep doing it now and then. Seems like a way to pass around a little enjoyment. What do you think of the idea?
First off, I'm not particularly interested in turn... (show quote)

I think it's a great idea, and, I'm with you. The moment you turn an enjoyable hobby into a job, it is no longer fun or relaxing. I too intend to keep this as a hobby.

Thanks! An old friend warned me about the hobby / business thing. Made the mistake and always regretted it.
