Any thoughts?

I have the "beep" turned on in the menu.

When focusing in live view it DOES beep.

When focusing via the view finder...NO beep.

:? :? :?

See page 338 of the manual. The beep indicates focus lock when in Single Servo mode. If you have AF-C selected, or AF-A and it is not choosing AF-S, or if you have the Release Mode dial set to Q or Qc, there is no beep.

Turn it off. It's one of the things that stands out among photographers that the person with the beep on is new to photography. Of course, if you want to stand out as a newby, by all means, leave it on.

I'm thinking of writing camera manuals in Braille - there seems to be a market!

I have had many issues where something is not working on my D750 and had to turn it off then on again for it to correct itself and taken the battery out when it freezes up. I also leave the beep on in quiet mode as it lets the model know the pic is about to be taken. I think it helps. I did attend a christening last week and turned it off for the church ;-)
