No it will give you 50MM. If you print all your work it will give you an apparent 75mm. meaning if you wanted a image side to side the same as the 50mm would give you, you would need a 75mm lens on a full frame sensor. Think of it this way. your sensor captures a smaller image. with a full frame you get a bit more on each side. Period, thats it!

a while back I purchased a Nikon AF FX NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D. for about a hundred bucks. From what I understand this should work well with the 7100 & give me about a 35mm equivalent. (I think....)

The lens mentioned will work fine with the D7100.
It will have a narrower field of view equivalent to 75mm on a full frame camera.
To have a 35mm equivalent field of view on a dx camera, you need a 24mm focal length.

I have been looking for a deal on a D7100 to replace my ageing D5100 for some time now. Last week I saw that Adorama had dropped the price of factory refurbished D7100 bodies to 549.00.... I almost ordered one at that point. I checked again tonight and they had dropped the price to 499.00. I placed my order... I have several older Nikormat lenses that should be able to make use of the 7100's additional capabilities. With the 5100 they were manual focus only...

Good deal. I paid almost that much for a D5300 refurb. I like the tilting LCD screen.

The 50mm 1.8 D works fine on the 7100, however it will be a 75mm equivalent.

It will go the other direction. It's x 1.5 so you'll be closer to 75mm. You can also crop it in camera and add another x 1.3 to that. I haven't found a lens that wouldn't work on my 7100. It's a great camera and I may purchase another at that price since I've learned how to use it. Enjoy it!

The D7100 is a great camera. I made the move from Canon to it and love it. Although the sensor supposedly has banding issues, I think you really need to be pushing your shadows to see it. No image I have ever taken with mine had a problem. I compared it to images from a d600 and a Sony A7. At equivalent focal lengths, the images were largely indistinguishable (good lighting, base ISO. mounting equivalent focal length lenses) even pixel peeping. When I decided to upgrade, the D810 was really the only way to get better image quality (and I love my D810 too). Even so, the D7100 still holds it's own. I won't get rid of mine.

Enjoy yours!

Sounds like an excellent choice my friend, - especially at that price - and the fact that you already have a collection of older Nikon lenses. I bought my refurbished D7100 with 18 -140mm lens about 17 months ago and am really happy with it. Again I tend to go with adorama and B & H photo Video - for both new and refurbished items.

If I understand the way the crop factor works, the 50mm will a 75mm view.
The 35mm will yield about 50mm.

ajohnston3: I bought a 7100 refurbished in July, $649 had only 600 shots on it, and I use my lenses on it, back to my D80 which was film with no problems, and shooting in manual is not a handicap.... Enjoy

Thanks for this heads up! What a GREAT price! I just ordered my second D7100. I like to have my 55-300 on one and the 18-140 on the other when my s/o and I are out in nature. I still have two D5100's that I've had for years but the controls are opposite of the D7100 which makes for some confusion when using the 5100 and 7100 at the same time. For example, the magnification and delete buttons are opposites which has caused me to delete unintentionally a few times.

Still love my five year old D5100's though (and one of them was refurbished!). Had to lean on them for some jobs recently when I had to send my 5 months old D7100 to Nikon for inconsistent exposure issues.

Again, thanks for letting us know about this deal.

Is this a grey market item? Who is providing the warranty?

I get all my equipment from Cameta (D7100, SB700, lenses) and I find that if you call them, you can build your own package on new and refurb alike to get prices that beat B&H and Adorama. Also, they extend the warranty to 1 year from' NIkon's 90 refurb warranty.
You did get a great deal from Adorama and enjoy the camera
