Those are very nice Coco, I like them in B&W.
Bob,
I, too, agree with you and the other and enjoyed your Photos. May I add a couple to the pile.......

I agree with you Bob, and I'm 68 years old. I've had a camera of some type ever since I was about 5 years old, I still have the pictures I took with that Kodak Brownie.
Thought I would post the girls. They are saying hello. I like taking shots of flowers also. Sometimes single mid photo and sometimes different angles.
Good morning what a beautiful day
I have learned to take the date and time off now.

Let me preface this by telling you that I am 77 years old and have been involved with photography since I was about twelve years old. That's a long time to develop opinions and I have certainly developed enough of my own. Most of my flower and insect shots are centered intentionally. It has been my experience that "rules" do not exist in photography..."guidelines" do. As for lighting, our best source is from nature and natural light is totally different at different times of day and in different weather conditions. Likewise, many, many wonderful pictures are shot using various sources of artificial light. Proper light and composition is what pleases the photographer unless your intent is to market them. Many of the photos that I share with you will violate some principles of photography but they represent what I liked at the time!
It is a pleasure to be with you...

Your so sweet, thank you, I don't usually get comments on my photo's. Thank you again. Now I'm going to look for yours.
renomike,
I have those morning glories in my garden here in Philadelphia. They have taken over my garden. They are a very angry vine, twisting and turning around each other as they grow. It seems that I can practically see them grow.
It's fall in Philly now so they are starting to die. In a couple weeks, I will have to go out there and clean up the dead dried up vines.
I spend so much time fighting off their onslaught so I haven't taken many shots of those evil flowers.

are you a beekeeper? I dabble with beekeeping and am a new photographer. This will be the first time I have tried to post a picture-- hope it works. Suggestions?

I only had then in for a couple years, any morning glory can really be a pain in the butt. I just liked the play of flowers and shadows. Taken very early in the morning, with the sun just coming up.

Try shooting at -1 on your camera. You can always lighten a photo, but once the color and texture of an object are gone, well it's gone.
You can also try shooting in RAW, more likely to get something back if you lose it from over exposure.
The bee looks nice, but the flower is way over exposed. White is the hardest color flower to get.
So tell the bee to seek out another color next time.
I agree with your views, Bob, and admire your work. Lots of nice photos here. Here's my contribution-
WOW!...What a great collection of photo's. Inspiration to keep shooting. I'm still fairly new to the whole rules or guidelines thing and my photo's may reflect that. I love to take pictures of flowers as they hold still and give me time to play with camera settings, angles, and that type of thing.
Thanks everyone for sharing the joy!
