Hello all,

I have never made an international purchase and I am interested in a lens that seems to be kind of hard to get in the U.S. but relatively abundant in Japan. There are many solid Japanese e-bay sellers however the one thing that is stopping me is the following: "International items may be subject to customs processing and additional charges." Have any hogs dealt with these fees and if so what are the additional charges?

Thanks,
Marty

Not once have I encountered additional charges when doing this. Just last week I received a lens from Japan (eBay) and everything went smooth as butter. (Nice lens- Pentax Takumar 55mm/f3.5 for 6x7, love it)!!

I purchased a lens on E-BAY and had Zero problems. It took about 7 days to get.

I've purchased a number of really nice Minolta lenses from Japan, for personal use, over the past year or so. There is no customs duty on photography items shipping into the US for personal use. You do need to be aware that some items purchased outside the US may be considered "gray market" or "counterfeit" and will not be warrantied by anyone if they prove to be defective.
