I love this too. I too would be interested in how you achieve this effect? How long does it take? I have a few photos that I would like to do this with.

I am not trying to be rude, you get a set of oil paints some brushes and a canvas, look at the photo and paint. It took me about 5 hours to paint. REJ.

If you want to make it like an oil painting make an oil painting.

Terrific job! A friend gave me a gift of oil painting, a golden retriever I had years ago - very special.

Oh- I guess I misunderstood. This is a photography site, so I just assumed this was a photograph that you converted. Actually, you could have corrected us in a kinder way, I think it was not an out of line misconception. But very nice job.

Thank you but I wish I had that talent, the best I can do is to find computer programs to do what my hands cannot, years ago a friend had "Photo Oil Colors", even that was beyond my hands.

I have tried 5 or 7 of those programs and after doing the very best job I could do I always ended up with a messed up photo. So I don't recommend them to anybody. Some people can do wonders with them but not most of the people I know. REJ.

I don't mean to be rude...nice painting!...but more contrast, meaning bring out the lighter areas, would really make the painting pop. Check out the color difference between the snout and the forehead--night and day. Please don't get mad at me. I paint also and have the same problem. Sometimes I look at a painting for weeks before I see where it can be improved. Then I screw it up!

Thanks for your reply. I agree with your statement but I think the problem was caused by the LED lighting I used when photographing the painting, the WB was way off and no WB setting brought back the true colour and contrast. I am still working on it. REJ.
