i feel as though i'm only getting part of the story:
Did you change computers?
Did you change operating systems?
Did the scanner ever work with the combination you have now?
Has the scanner/printer software been loaded?
Does the software support win 8?
Does the scanner work with a handwritten note on a piece of paper?

Is the scan initiated thru the 'puter or with the
scan button on the scanner?

Many programs which scan or otherwise manipulate images have a default setting to save their results in a subfolder of the program, like c:\Program Files (x86)\Mybrandofscanner\Scanner\Images, or something like that.

I am required to scan a copy of my drivers license to a stock photo agency. I put the license on the printer (HP6700) and tell it I want to scan a document.. Does a good job, however I can not find the scan and it gives me no option to send it to documents or whereever I want. I have checked documents, photo's etc. and no DL and no option to tell the scan where I want to put it. But when the scanning is done, it shows me what was scanned and that is it. I can't locate it. What do I do?

It probably puts in in a folder called Scans that is in My
Documents and then in a folder with the date of the scan.

I do not know how your scanner works, but make your life easier, just take a photo of your DL.. Most stock site only except jpeg anyway, so if you use your camera you will have a jpeg. Same goes with model releases with or without photo ID. Of course I am assuming that you know how to down load and up load photos with your computer:)

Click search (under the program list in the lower left corner of your screen), and search for "scan" - that should return a list of all scans stored and the path to their location(s). The typical file name is: scan + the date. Good luck!

I have the same problem as I only infrequently make scans and cannot remember where the computer puts the file. The easiest technique I have found is to do a search by date of the C: drive (you can narrow it down if you have an general idea where file might be). You might want to be sure that scanning the file is the first thing you do after turning your computer on so the scan is the only file that the search finds. After it finds the file you can rename and relocate it. Maybe even write down where it put the file but that would be crazy cause you probably could never find the note.

My Windows 8 laptop automatically put scans in a special folder. It took me awhile to find it also. Do a search for a FOLDER name "Scans" and you should find it.

You must be applying to IStock. Be careful. I sent them my drivers license and within 2 weeks I was having difficulty with attempts to steal my identify. They said it came from someone having my drivers license.

Are you running Windows? If so, look in your DOCUMENTS folder for either a FOLDER called 'My Scans', or below all the folders for a FILE called SCAN etc.... That's where my HP puts them.

Can't tell if you're using a Mac or PC but you did say "documents" and "photos" which are Mac terms. If you're using a Mac start by going into Finder and then pick Applications (on the left). In applications look for Image Capture. Once in that put your document on the scanner and then hit Overview (on the bottom right). That will show you an image of what is on the scanner. At that point you can make all the settings from color to dpi to PDF/JPEG, you can name it and you can send it to documents, Photos or iPhoto for that matter. Then hit scan.

Yes, it's a bit cumbersome but once you're used to it you can do it pretty fast--I did 60 photos yesterday afternoon in about an hour.

If that printer has a usb drive option use that to save the copy then copy it into your computer from the drive.

Using Windows 7 -go to start and in the find window type fax. it will bring up Windows fax and scan. you also see in the upper left corner a list of all the scans you have done. Also not make sure you rename the files from what the machine titles them to a name you can recognize when you originally scanned it. Just double click it and it will be brought up; and at the top of the window you can see to fax or e-mail it.

Why in the Hell didn't I think of that. What a great solution. You win todays award for common sense and simplicity. Thanks

Open the HP Officejet 6700 Software, then select Scan a Document or Photo.

Select the same scan option as used from the device front panel.

Click the Advanced Settings link and then select the Destination tab.

The Save Location listed on that screen is the current target, you should find the files at that location.

You may select another location for future scans, as well you may set After Scan to Launch Windows Explorer once future scans will be performed.
