I don't have either of the cameras. But I like to add this;
Get the latest and greatest, you can afford, because tomorrow it will be outdated!

Hi Dennis,, Welcome to the site...
I just bought a 7D about a month ago,, I'm still getting used to it,, but so far,, I LOVE it.

I was shooting a Canon Rebel 450 D (Rebel XSi) before this.

The 7D is a sophisticated tool,, I am hoping to learn so much from just learning the tool,,

Keep shooting and have FUN

Google 60D vs 7D then weigh the pros and cons, but with either choice you win

Welcome to the forum, Dennis.

Can't help you on the Canon question. But google and your local camera shop guy are both good resources.

Half of any job is a good tool. Buy the best that you can afford even if you have to save for it as have I. Do not settle for second best because in the long run you will be upgrading anyway. I shoot both Nikon and Canon . Recently I bought a Canon 5D Mark II and so far am happy with it...just as I am with my Nikon D300. Personal preference !

I use the 7D a lot. It has fantastic image quality but both of the cameras that you mentioned do. Where the 7D stands out is when shooting action type photos. If you shoot sports or moving wild life, it can't be beat! It shoots in bursts of 8 frames a second. Its servo focus system can pick up moving objects and keep focus on them with speed and acruacy. Its HD video feature is fantastic as well. It has a crop sensor so you will have to decide if you prefer a full frame sensor.

There are rumors of a Canon 7D Mark II in the mill. So, I'm sitting tight for the time being.
