I have the AF 180mm F3.5 Tamron. I seldom use it as it is heavy & bulky & has a 72mm filter size & thus my ring light doesn't work with it. Personally I find the 105mm to be a better compromise. Yeah having more MWD is nice but I don't have many issues getting close enough with a 105...To each their own though...
Humm, you must have bought the wrong one then.
Mine came with adapters for everything
but my Big Tammy at 95mm.
"Attached are equipped with 52mm, 55mm, 58mm,62mm, 67mm, 72mm 77mm, seven different adapter ring, so you can use it with almost any type of lens."MeikeĀ® FC-100 Macro Ring Flash/Light for Nikon
I use a mid 1980's Lester Dine ring light. I have a Meinke LED ring light but it is underpowered in comparison to the Dine unit. I do have a "Bower" unit that surprised me, but once again the largest filter ring was 67mm Looked at the one in your link & it is an LED unit that is the same as my Meinke unit....

In the mid 1980's, a 67mm lens was probably considered the far end. 30 years later things have probably improved a little.
The one in my link probably looks the same as your Meinke unit because it
is a Meinke unit.
My point is, 30 years later there are adapter rings that (thankfully) allow me to use my ring flash with many lenses. (And the appropriate adapter is in the lens storage bag for the lens. ;) )
And, my intention is to not burn my subjects eyes out. So I often use mine as a light, not a flash. ;)
YMMV
I have a 60mm macro lens all be it canon my experience is that this is far too short use at least 100mm otherwise you will almost be touching your subject with the front element
