I've seen shows about this on TV several times. Scary story. More available online.

Hi Jerry,

I find that all (or most) of your posts with the link jam my computer with ads for which I am not grateful. So, I never follow one of your links. But many times the title is interesting, so I click to see the message, see it is a link, and click to go back. You could save me time if you put in your title (link only) and then I could save my effort. Thanks for considering this.

I frequently follow your posts and do not find the ads on some of the linked sites that annoying.

So if there is a link, you want to know ahead of time? I'll see what I can do.

As for the ads, I use AdBlocker, so I see no ads. The link I had with that article had 14 ads that were being blocked.

I don't use ad blocker, but have Safari set to block pop ups. That doesn't stop all ads, but many of them.

I remember seeing a documentary on this subject and it was pretty scary to think that relations with the Soviet Union were so bad that these fools would actually think the US would launch a surprise attack knowing we would be killed in a retaliatory strike.

Russia has a memory of previous attacks, with millions killed. It doesn't want a repeat.

What is Adblocker? Do you mean Adblock Plus?

Whoops! I had used Adblock Plus previously, but I see that I am using Ghostery now. Seems to do the same thing.

One thing to be aware of with ad blockers. Some sites use a pop-up feature for different things, and the blocker will block them, so you'll have to pause it.

Ronald Reagan once said in an interview that he was once asked by the Russian leadership, about 1983, when we planned to attack them. Reagan answered "what?!" We have no such plans.

Digging into history you'll find that kind of Russian paranoia came out of the 2nd WW when Hitler, who made a pact with the Russians never to go to war with each other did so not very long after tearing up the agreement.

It's also not talked about much these days but we came just as close, if not closer, in the 60's when the Russians were putting nuclear missiles in Cuba. I was in the Army at the time in Honolulu... 25th Division. Our battle group was in aircraft, engines running, about to go to Florida when word came to stand down. A very scary time.

I also use AdBlocker, so I see no ads. No problems at all.
