This got me. To see these people, very proud, leaving everything, coming across worlds to make a new life. It was hard, the outcomes not always great but they came. And they joined. What do we have today loud-mouth, self centered dirt bags.

I used to know an woman who taught English to immigrants in night school, and she said it was very interesting. She had adults from all over the world, each with their different customs and traditions, so it was a challenge to deal effectively with all of them in one room.

Referring to today's immigrants as " loud-mouth, self centered dirt bags." may be extreme however there is a difference in today's immigrants and those of the past, in the past the immigrant seemed to want to add their culture to ours, now they want to change our culture to theirs, of course they are frequently fleeing the results of their culture which makes it even more incongruous.

One problem, those pictures were not taken at Ellis Island. They are not representative of those who entered then.
