Yes they are! Really like this one, Bob! Super work!
Thank you Donna. It reminds me of my own college days except that I have better camera gear now.
Excellent capture, Bob. Shows the value of keeping your eyes and mind open for these type of opportunities.

Thanks Ron. I have to hand it to my peripheral vision - it's my watchdog telling my brain when to go back and look again, just longer this time.

I was alive in '65 (and sowing my young oats), so "Far out!" is perfectly understandable and well received.

If you ever come back be sure to set aside some time to photograph the chapel at Duke University - gothic arches, stained glass windows, and exquisite stonework. But then, it's located in the central part of the state about 3 hours away from the mountains. For me, though, it would be well worth the trip. It is a world class building.
Where do you find this stuff?? I'll have to move to NC to find out.

It's all around us mffox. I'll admit, I'm out looking for the scenes that are just a bit different than usual, but I find them in familiar places. I often discover that a cropped view will bring out scenery that gets lost in larger photos.

No Susan, but it's only a few blocks down the street from where I live. I got my B.A. in Philosophy from Oakland University in Rochester, MI and my Masters of Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island. Unfortunately, I have no pictures from either of them.
