I like it. I don't do much post processing, preferring to get a photo that stands on its own. This one, though, leaves you with a variety of options simply with cropping.

I think it's a great image...the key, I think, is do what you like. Photography (to me) is an art form, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally I can't hardly stand to look at a Picasso print, but he's one of the greatest artists of our time...according to most.

So, do what you like and I'm sure others will like it too!!

I don't know. Photography is what you wish it to be I guess. You do it your way and I'll do it my way, and the rest of the hogs can do it their way. And nobody's wrong and everybody's right because it is merely one's opinion. And there is nothing wrong with that.

By the way, your photo is beautiful!

Hello everyone,
I get really confused about what is considered "good" photography these days. I am told it's not the equipment so is it how good you can photo shop your pictures? I think I good photographer is when you can take a good picture from the start. If I don't Photoshop my pictures then does that make me an inferior photographer? If I take a picture and I say to myself, "Wow, that is so pretty" is it really a good photo? How do I know if it should be "adjusted" or not? I see photos done by "professionals" in the photo magazine and they are so overblown in colors they look in my opinion terrible, not appealing. So, how does one determine what is really good photography these days? Tell me what you think about this photo
Hello everyone, br I get really confused about wha... (show quote)

You have now had many responses. The original is a good image.

Is it what you wanted? If so, the leave it as is. If not why not play with some PP work, selectively changing things?

As others have said, what do you wish to achieve? Realistic? Dreamy? Somber? Threatening? Insightful? Relaxing? Compelling?

All are possible. The photo is a good one. If you wish to explore you can now transform it into other things. Go play, and have fun....

Good pic! Anyone who would say that how good you are as a photographer depends on how good you are in photo shop is f.o.s. Photo editing programs are nice and I use one. Paint Shop Pro. But I use it to do what I would do if I were processing in a darkroom. The real photography takes place in the camera.

While we all have our equipment preferences, mine is obviously Nikon, it really makes little or no difference what you are shooting with. A good photographer is one who understands the principles of the exposure pyramid and the basics of lighting and composition.

A professional photographer is one who can take on almost any assignment and come back with a good picture. It is not someone who has mortgaged the farm for a truck load of equipment and thinking the technology is going to guarantee a successful photo venture.

A professional photog is also one who deliberately approaches his subject and knows how to set the camera and compose the scene to get repeatable results. He often uses and owns a minimum of equipment.

Then there are those who employ the 'spray and pray' method. They spray the scene down with automatic equipment and rapid fire shutter settings, and then pray they get a good shot out of dozens of exposures. In many cases, they couldn't go back and repeat the one good shot they got.

If you try to sell and someone pays you, it's good.

If you spend money for a nice print, then a nice frame, then put it up so people see it it's good.

If you have doubts... maybe not so good.

All art is very subjective.
