Thank you, I just checked and Nikon Capture NX-2 is not compatible.
I see it has no data so far with El Capitan, but it had problems with Yosemite, so it may be not working with El Capitan.
I know that I can use View NX-2 with El Capitan and it shows a blue circle as well.

Installed it about a week ago. I use Google stuff, Lightroom, Bridge and MacPhun plug-ins. No problems so far.
I paid a consultant group $99 to be able to modify the install program for Capture NX-2 to install it on Yosemite and it worked on that operating system. I just hate giving it up now for El Capitan.

I am an Apple lover, and will stick by them !! That said the El Capitian crashes at least 1-2 a day. No harm--Just have to shut down with the power button, no other way !!! I read now of the crashes by others. Also slow loading. A fix will be coming shortly AND I WILL BE BACK TO LOVIN' MY MAC !!!!
i backed up on an ext hard drive [just in case]. also made sure i was up to date on everything & downloaded elcap the 1st day - no problems & it took about an hour.

Did so a week ago and the only problem I had was finding the .dmg file to install. Once I found it everything has worked as I hoped it would.

FWIW - I upgraded days after it became available - I run an IMAC, 16 GB ram and several external disk drives - USB 2.0, Thunderbolt & Firewire.
I make use of Lightroom & Photoshop most every day as well as Safari & Apple Mail, Evernote and several other packages.
So far, the only issue was I needed to reinstall my Topaz Plugins, which was a free and simple process.
Edit: I noticed right away that things just seemed to run a tad faster & smoother - maybe it was wishful thinking - but I have no complaints so far.

Just downloaded and installed El Capitan update -no problems - I did not even have to reinstall Topaz plugins in PSE14 AND it has given me an increase in disk space from 1.01tb to 1.02tb

We still use iPhoto to organize stuff, we're obviously not pros. I just got a new Macbook with El Capitan and iPhoto is gone, the photos are still there but the app iPhoto is gone. This will prevent my wife from ever going to Yosemite or El Capitan. Some may not know Apple has a slick way to transfer files to a new Apple computer, that's what we did. Just updating the OS may be a different story.
I have Photoshop CS5 and only problem I've noticed is the content aware delete is not available, it's gray on the menu. But the EDIT->FILL works just fine, just different keystrokes.

I usually wait a while on updates and longer on major "upgrades" like El Capitan so bugs can be worked out. After attending a Mac User Group meeting last week I will probably wait longer than usual this time. As reported on UHH some have found the transition smooth and other have experienced problems. At the meeting several folks reported problems with multiple mail programs and browsers. I cannot remember hearing so much negativity about an update.
As an aside, there were multiple problems reported about the new iOS, again negativity like never before.
A member who previously worked at the Genius Bar said he had never seen such bad releases from Apple. Thus I can only suggest wait to see if Apple can straighten out their messes.

iPhoto was phased out in favor of Photos in the Yosemite days, however, iPhoto was at that time available as a download and could be reinstalled. If you have made use of Time Machine you may be able to recover iPhoto from a backup.
I do not use iPhoto or Photos, but I have both of them installed under El Capitan and both work fine.
If I recall, shortly before Yosemite a patch came out for Aperture and iPhoto to enable them under Yosemite. I installed that patch even though I had moved from Aperture to Lightroom at the time.
If you are not happy with Photos (I did not care for it myself) you can look at several other apps that manage and process images - like Picasa, Darketable & Lightzone.
Picasa will organize and edit photos, similar to iPhotos - Darketable & Lightzone are more editing software, relying on the underlying computer OS to manage files though.
There are several yahoo groups devoted to things Apple/Macintosh in which there has been a lot about el capitan. Also, there is an excellant Mac/Apple newsy source by the name of Tidbits, just one brain child of Adam Engst. It has a weekly newsletter, usually loaded with links to background, and a daily Tidbits Talk. I consider both to be essential.
I also upgraded my mac mini within a week of the download offering and had no problems.
I recently purchased an Imac desktop and the vendor downloaded Elcapitan and so far no problems. I then migrated all my programs from the Mac-mini and the transfer was complete and again no problems.
Bite the bullet and download.

I have been using El Capitan for several weeks now, since it came out. There have already been a couple updates.
Updates can happen fast these days in this world of instant communications and electronic distribution.
Early adopters always suffer a few bugs, it's all part of the fun. I didn't notice any fatal issues. If so I would have simply restored the prior OS from backup. But I have only had to do this once in over 10 years of installing Apple OS updates. Are you equipped to do this if necessary?
What have you done in the past with regard to software updates? Have you waited? If what you have done in the past has worked for you, then do that same thing. Why change what works?
