I have tried to use ps for several years and don't seem to get it right. What is the opinion about corbels programs?

Lots of members rave about them. The price is good, and they have good features. They only product of theirs I use is WordPerfect.

I am a rank newby. I bought Paintshop Pro x7 Ultimate which comes with Perfectly Clear and I love it. There are tons of videos on the Internet that helped me a lot. Please keep in mind that in the Marine Corps I would have been a FNG (freeking new guy). I don't consider myself an expert by any stretch of the imagination.

LOL...Haven't heard of or seen WordPerfect since the 80's. I thought it was dead and gone.

By all accounts Corel is a very fine program. I have to ask though, what kind of issues you are having with Photoshop that you aren't getting right? I would have to imagine there is still a pretty strong learning curve to Corel to get the full benefit of the software. Are you sure that switching software packages will really help?

For most photographers, Corel will be plenty sufficient for all of their editing tasks.

For function there is little difference between Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro, for operation (completing tasks) there is a large difference. Corel PSP has been developed to perform professional results with a much more intuitive methods for human operation.
If you were a 20 something college entry student with the goal of a degree in graphics development, and graphics marketing development you would want a 4 year course in Photoshop to met your goals in understanding the theories and working knowledge of graphics production.
If you were a 40 something student in photography and needed a good graphics program to help you learn the basics of photography and improve the photographic product, you would not need a degree from a university in graphics, PSP and their users could provide a very rewarding tool for your needs.

I've been playing with Corel AfterShot Pro.
Nice interface, easy to learn the basics, seems to get the basic job done.
Lens database seems inadequate (compared to what I read about Light Room).

I do not know. Unfortunately at age 88 spending a lot of time learning PS doesn't work for me.

I've used PSP since I got an early issue (PSP3 if I remember correctly) several years ago on a free CD with a photo magazine... Have used it and it's various versions ever since. If I'm honest, whenever PSP has not been able to produce what I wanted.. it's always been because I didn't provide a sufficiently decent enough image to start with. And as they say.. a bad workman should never blame his tools...

i have used corel products for years. from word processors and graphic arts to photo processing. Aftershot pro and paintshoppro x8 work well integrated with photoshop 13 and LR5.

Does anyone successfully use AfterShot Pro on Mac OS Snow Leopard. Is this only for processing RAW files or JPGs also?
