I just took some Nikon classes, and they had Nikon trade-in day. So I like the wifi features on the D7200. My D7000 will not do this. Also, the time lapse on the D7200 was nice. But, trading in my D7000, and purchasing the D7200 was about an $800.00 difference. I didn't feel it was worth it at this time. Instead, I traded in my 35mm 1.8, for the 85mm 1.8. Love the 85mm, better bokeh. But, maybe to close sometimes. My question is, is the D7200, that much better then the D7000? And I can't even find a used D7000 to see what its value is. I found many D7100.

$800 does seem quite a big difference. I have a D7000 and frankly, have never been overly thrilled with it. Probably my lens(es) more than the camera. I bought a D600 and am much happier with it.
I have been in the same boat and also have the D 7000 . I shoot a mix of stills and fast moving wildlife so I passed on the D 7200 . I bought the 7100 for a really good price and kept the D 7000 . Now I use the the D7000 with a Tokina 12 28 for landscapes and the D7100 with the new Sigma 150 600 C for wildlife . Quite Happy . D 7000 is a great camera but I can shoot a higher ISO and better focusing system for moving objects with d 7100

I took your advise and read some reviews in DPreview. I could see some pluses to upgrading. But, currently now worth the price. I'll probably wait a couple more years to see where the technology goes. Things change so fast now. Who knows, your cell phone might have all the features on a nice SLR camera soon.
Good luck with that...........

If you have your heart set on a D7200, get it. One way to do this would be to list your D7000 on this site in the classified section. They sell used for $350-400. Then go to the Nikon USA site and buy a refurbished D7200 at a discount, and if you follow the Nikon site, they frequently have 10% off refurbished units so you could pick one up for about $900 (with the discount) minus say $350 and you have the D7200 for $550. Just a thought.
I bought my D7100 back in April and with a nice lens which was 18-140. I just love it. I couldn't be any happier. The $1000 difference in price between the 7100 and 7200 wasn't worth it to me.
I'm sure if I decide to upgrade at some point I'll just go full frame then but for what I have now, I just couldn't be any happier.

For me, the upgrade to the D7100 was worthwhile. I kept the D7000, loaned it to my daughter. The further upgrade to the D7200 wasn't worth the difference, especially since I got my D7100 Nikon refurb for less than $700 and got to keep the D7000.
Either one is a major upgrade.
If either NiCan come out with a good mirrorless without costing an arm and a leg, I will jump to that. My experience with the a6000 told me I love the mirrorless and don't like Sony.
I also have a D7000. I researched the D7100 and D7200. I felt the advantages of the two were in the area of Video. I rarely use Video and WiFi wasn't a priority. Nice but not a priority. I bought a D7100, Nikon refurbished. I like the additional Megapixels. It allows me to crop portions of the picture and get the sharpness I am looking for. I usually PP Raw photos. This was a good step for me. I still have my D7000 and find it a fine camera also. Both cameras serve well in low light situation.
Good shooting
A good, clean D7000 goes for $400 - $500 on craigslist, depending on shutter count. The D7100 is a substantial improvement over the 7000. Not a whole lot of difference from the 7100 to the 7200 unless you need a larger buffer or do a lot of dim light shooting. I sold my 7000 when the 7100 came out and have never regretted the decision.

I have a D7000, and a D4.
I use the D4 more, but I like the smaller size of the D7K. And I use it for BIF and wildlife, as I get more pixels per image for enlarging crops.
I considered the D7100/D7200, but for my purposes, could not see any advantage.
And one claimed advantage by a very good wildlife photographer in New Mexico is color rendering. The sensor in the D7K is made by Sony, while the D7100/D7200 has a Toshiba sensor. He likes the colors better from the Sony. sensor.
Hi, have a look on adorama.com and B & h photo Video: they sell new, used & refurbished stuff, refurbished DSLRs & lenses mainly being Canon & Nikon. The refurb D7000 body is selling for a VERY reasonable price with the above two vendors. (Haven't checked the used prices on the D7000 though) I have the D7100, like the improved performance & specs of the D7200 - but cant afford to upgrade at this time. I must admit though, I'm very happy with the performance of my D7100.
. . . . maybe wait another 6 months or so 7 the price will have dropped on the D7200 - OR buy a refurbished D7200 from adorama or B&H.
Maybe you should just rent a D7200 for a weekend, and see if it is worth purchasing.
I have the 7100 and I see little difference in the 7100 and the 7200. It is not worth changing.

The WU-1a Wifi adapter does not work with the D7000.
