Argus C 3 is correct, there are about 5 of these for sell at our flea market priced from $5-15 even at that price they don't sell.
C3....My first camera. I was 12

Thanks. It was a long time coming. First, I had to buy a bunch of cameras on ebay - aiming for the more unusual. Then they sat in a box for over a year. I have a few more I should make into something.
It reminds me of my childhood and starting my photographic endeavors.
Before I knew about photography I found an old box camera that I was planning to turn into a garage for my toy cars.
I was thinking about making a small shelf from my old cameras to hold things like my keys, change and maybe wallet. Never brought myself to destroy the guts of a camera.
I got one for my 14th birthday in June of 54. Still have it on my collector shelf. I have Kodachromes from the 50's taken with it which when scanned and printed look perfect at 8 by 12 prints. The sunny 16 rule was great until I could afford a light meter. My dad was using a Leica IIIf at the time. His slides were ok, too.
One of the most mass produced cameras of all time. I'd give you $3 for a nice one!
Argus C3, I have 2 of them. I loaned I to my son for a collage class, during a field shoot, he took a shot with the Argus, the instructor heard the "ping" of shutter, and said " Ok who has the C3, I know that sound anywhere".
Are you kidding??? That is the historic ARGUS C-3 It was probably the first camera I ever saw--that would be some 50 or 60 years ago. Alyn
Several Hogs have said Argus C3. Well, I had one - bought it used in a neighborhood drug store with a good chunk of my summer job pay. Served me well AND led to my first GAS attack when C4 came out. The C3 was a great camera - never failed.
It is an Argus C-3. Incidentally, my first 35mm camera back in 1954. I recall that there were unique Argus interchangeable lenses: A 35mm wide angle and a 100 mm telephoto. Individually, I recall that the lenses cost as much as the camera itself with the basic 50mm lens cost in the first place..

My very first 35mm camera . . . at age 12 years . . . was an Argus A2. Quite a bit earlier than this C3. The A2 was not yet syncronised for flash.
It's an old Argus camera..don't know model...you can probably look it up....Lewi
