You may have heard that a tourist complained to a ranger that the bearin Yellowstone were not trained very well; he had not seen any!
Maybe more entertaining now is the tourists that have been trained to use selfie sticks for self portraits with the "tamed" Bison.

That first shot is how I want to see one...across the river from where I am! The third one looks like he has a bead on you. Love the reflection. Must have been a real thrill.

Very good shots. Keep in mind a grizzly bear can out run a quarter horse in a sprint . They can be on you before you know it. Check out this site for the speeds of animals on the run. There are warning signs where I live for these things.

Yes, long lens and ran to get behind car further away. Lots of over people there and a ranger to help us keep clear, but experience the awesomeness of this great animal.

Lucky find in Yellowstone about a week ago. We drove on the opposite side of the river and stopped. He walked along the edge, stood up, came across the water in front of us, then went up a steep rocky embankment, posed and then came back down and went into the woods. About 400 shots taken during the 20 to 30 minutes. Beautiful and Lucky moments.

Great shots

These are great shots. The third is amazing. I just hope you were shooting with a good long telephoto and not a wide angle lens and that you had a fast car. I will be going up again next May and will keep an eye out for your new friend.

I think May will be much too early in the season to see Grizzlies out and about in Yellowstone.

This grizzly is nicknamed "scar face" because of the bad scars and the damaged ear on the left side of his face. You can see it on your images. You did a great job photographing him. He is very old and a very famous bear in Yellowstone. Congratulations!
