Please give advice. We have been editing with Picasa and doing finishing touches on Picnik. We use a Dell XPS 8100 with Windows 7 to edit our sports and family shoots. Doing several hundred shoots annually

We have purchased Adobe Elements, but have not started on that learning curve.

You and I are in the same boat! I noticed today on Picasa 3, that that basic PicNik is still active.

I prefer PicNic over PicMonkey, because PicNik will open and process Raw images. PicMonkey will only process JPGs. ALL other functions are identical.

I own PSE-10, but have not yet used it for either basic tweaking or in-depth PP.

picmonkey is beyond easy. download the site add it toyour favorites open her up and it really is self explanitory. pse is a more complwx software. i have pse9and found thebest way to learn it is to just open a photo up in the editor and go i wonder what this does, and then click on the button. i have yet found it neccesary to use layers, layer masks, or select in a photo. but they are nice to have. levels is very usefull. plenty of help on how to do things by going to the inspiration browser iside pse 10 for video tutorials or open up the editor andgo to guided. it will take you step by stepon how to do most common editing. the organizer is self explainitory.

When my Windows 7 Pictures folder is open, I click on the image I want to edit. That automatically opens Picasa 3, which still has PicNik Basic as an option. It still functions. I was as surprised as anybody.

Been using Pecasa... Brought Elements 10... Tried PicMonkey... Threw 10 out with the bath water... Happy with de Monkey...

Elements 10 was more of a program that I needed... Photography is my hobby, not an obsession...

Just today, I processed a few dozen images through Picnik in Picasa 3.

These are Pipevine Swallowtail caterpillars grazing on Dutchman's Pipevine (Aristolochia californica).

For the people that used to use the 'Picnik' editing program, there is one called "Ipiccy.com" that does the same things that 'Picnik' used to do and best of all ~~ it's FREE!!!

I use PSE9 for all my photo editing work. I bought it in mid-2011 and have taught myself, with help from the Scott Kelby book - "the photoshop elements 9 book for digital photographers." I'm learning something new about it each time I use it. I started shooting in RAW + Jpeg back in Feb 2012 and don't have a problem using my RAW images with my PSE9 program. Btw, what the heck is 'PicMonkey' anyway? Never heard of it.

I'm glad to see that others are seriously using some free editing software as picasa , picnik and now picmonkey. I can use those much easier than the Photoshop Elements 10 that I"m trying to learn. I finally signed up for a class on line from our local community college to learn PE10. Just taking forever to learn. I do like picmonkey, it seems to have more choices than picnik did. Check out what I did with picmonkey yesterday. Not perfect but was fun experimenting

Very nice final products. I like the way you framed all your waterfall prints. A question, if you wanted to make a print of either of those images you posted, more than likely you're going to "lose" some of your framing that makes these images look so nice. I used to add frames to some of my images using 'Picnik' but when I went to make a print of them, either the top/bottom or sides were cut off.

Have you made any prints of these yet with the way they look? Just curious to know that.

I am a newcomer to photography so when i came on the hog it was just to improve my camera technique, one of the first things i learned was a "thing" called photoshop,I had never heard of it or the operations it was capable of.Then there was a thread on smart photo editor so I had a look and bought it,I have had picasa since i started taking photographs but never noticed picnic untill Nickonian72 mentioned it at the beggining of his thread (nice photos by the way)so i have had a look at that and it is great, I only wish i could make the same kind of leap forward with understanding my camera as i have with learning how to improve my finished article just by sliding a few bars.Only other problem is im spending so much time on here dont have time to go out.
