I'm gonna make a few adjustments, these were taken before content aware, one of my favorite CS5 features. I'll see if I can touch up those hairs. I think her make up may be a little clumpy too, I may need to smooth it out a bit.

I wouldn't say the camera is that big an factor... all you need is a camera with an adjustable f-stop.
ISO is always at 100 and shutter doesn't make much of a difference in studio. I keep it above 1/60 and you can't go over 1/250, since most strobes don't have a TTL function.
This is all about strobes, reflectors and light metering, and it's easy. Studio is much, much easier than ambient.

This is one of the few times where shutter was a factor in studio. I dragged the shutter down to 1/15 and had the model pose as still as possible to catch the candle-light flicker.
This one was hand-held, typically you'd need a tripod. I skipped my morning coffee to prevent hand-shake, lol.

Oh... and that candle shot was done with an old Rebel. Very basic camera.
