Nature Girl in NC Going to Africa

I'm getting back into photography as my retirement hobby. I have not been serious about the medium since my film photo days in the 70's. I've just purchased a Sony a77 and am furiously learning as much as I can so I can get great images on my "Ultimate Africa" trip to southern Africa (parks in S. Arica, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe) June 15-July 6, 2012 with Overseas Travel Adventures.

We will soon have three things in common, Sony camera owner, been to Africa and retired.

Many many years ago I lived in Africa. The US Army sent me there. I was in East Africa. Someone recently invited me to join them on a bike trip to Africa. I declined saying, "I can't go to Africa because of religious reasons." I explained that I years ago I made a promise to God that if I get out of Africa alive, I will never return.

Seriously, You should consider taking one of these with you and using it:

Have a great trip but watch what you eat!

Thanks Dave! This is a great idea, the steripen. I will do it!
Yes, I know the dangers of southern Africa and at my age I should know better. In my younger days I was a third world junky and loved traveling to exotic places but now, it appears, I just have to prove to myself I can do it. and also I can blame this upcoming trip on getting me back into photography, a long lost love.

Welcome to the forum. You'll learn a lot here. I'm heading to S. Africa just after you (mid Aug to early Sept). Will also visit Victoria falls, wine country and Cape Town.

We'll have to compare pix afterwards!

I have heard great things about that A77! People who bought them, love them. A wise choice for a travel camera.

Post some pics when you return home.
