It was a long time ago, and it was the only online seller with the D90. Maybe they were selling GM at list.
Or whatever they could get for it ;)
I know when I was shopping for a D7100, best online prices equaled the camera store prices around my area, so I bought local. Pretty sure it has been that way for a while - Nikon sets the prices and authorized dealers sell for that price.
I just checked KEH, they have them for $1119 in "like new" condition. I've bought lenses there before that I couldn't tell from new. For only an $80 difference, I would buy new. I got my D7200 from Precision Camera here in Austin the day they were available, but paid the tax and supported our local business because they are very helpful, offer many perks like free classes to camera buyers and have a good service department. Do I buy online (yes, KEH, B&H, Adorama and Amazon)but a brand new model and the possible risks made the brick and mortar store more comfortable in this case. Good luck, whatever you do.

Funny...PC has a bad rap over here in CT. I personally can't speak from experience though. I really do understand the importance of supporting our camera stores.
To my knowledge I have only purchased one gray market item (50 mm 1.4 lens from B&H). I had never purchased a body. I trust anything from B&H. Thanks to everyone. You have given me much to consider and many links to read. Thanks again, Mike

There are a lot of not Nikon camera repair shops. Will they fix Nikon cameras for money?
The will not repair any gray market cameras IF they (the shops) are affiliated with Nikon USA.
It is my understanding that Nikon does not sell parts to repair stores that are not affiliated with Nikon USA.
What some independent repair stores do is purchase old Nikon cameras and cameras that no longer work and use those parts for repairs.

As long as the vendor is telling you up front it is grey market and you know what you are buying it can be a bargain for sure.

Do you have your own experience or know this from any other sources?

This is good way to answer my question asking your question instead of answering mine. I do not need /thanks God/ and never needed Nikon service.
Search the Internet. You will find many discussions about Nikon USA's policy about refusing service on grey market items, incuding first person accounts of bodies and lenses being refused service specifically because they were identified as grey market. There is also some documentation of the occasional Nikon repair center providing service for grey market products, but that goes against Nikon USA's official policy.
You apparently have not had your grey market lenses or bodies serviced by an authorized Nikon service center since this policy was introduced, so it begs the question why you doubt it?
The following is a quote from Nikon. Are you suggesting they're not actually following their own policy?
"Nikon Inc. USA cannot provide service, support or downloads for products that have not been imported by Nikon Inc. USA."As a comparison I just checked Canon's policy which is a bit different and states that Canon MAY NOT provide warranty service and support for grey market purchases. They do provide after warranty paid support 100% of the time and often, but far from always, warranty support for grey markets items. The Nikon USA policy is far more restrictive and smacks of a type of protectionism in support of USA dealers, and does not serve customers who legally purchased imported Nikon products outside of the dealer network. It even restricts the availability of parts to non authorized service sites.
