I received my Ebay lens today. Took it out the back and shot some pics of the back yard and the pics were perfect.
The lens was received in a white box and no paperwork. Just for drill, I went into the Canon website and registered the lens. I received the standard reply welcoming me to Canon, etc. So, unless I a very wrong (which woudln't be the first time) this lens does not appear to be a grey market lens, but rather a part of a kit. So, I am happy!

Congratulations on your purchase. It's a nice lens. I recently including one with my 7D MKII and have been really happy with it as a versatile walk around lens.

Congrats! Mine is not the STM (purchased used from B&H), but it's a terrifically versatile zoom. Love it.

Congrats. Mine (it's not the STM version, either) was the 'kit' lens with my 50D. Love mine, too.

I got that lens as part of a kit years ago. It quickly became my all-around, go-to lens. Very sharp and a very useful focal length range.
