I am new to digital photography and would like to buy a mirrorless or DSRL camera to learn and grow with.
Please suggest a camera for me to buy and appropriate lenses.
Thank you for helping me.

Welcome! I don't know anything about mirrorless, but if you don't receive any answer here, start a new topic in "main discussion" forum. Also, there is a search function at top of page which should help you find previous topics on mirrorless camera recommendations. I know there have been several :)

There are lots to chose from but you need to answers several questions first such as: Budget? What do you want to photograph? What do you plan to do with pictures taken?

Use google to search for guides for determining what kind of dslr to buy to meet your needs. Also use google to locate many of the articles written about what to consider when buying a dslr camera. Also check local book store (if available) for magazines that help you through the process

I plan to photograph for fun and keep my pictures on my computer.
I would like to photograph animals and birds of prey. Bothe stationary and in motion. Also while hiking, flowers and landscapes.
Thank you. My budget is $1200.

Amazon still has some brand new Nikon D7000 cameras at heavily discounted prices. I purchased two D7000's (body only) from them this year. They have a US warranty. They are available as body only or with a 18-105mm or 18-55mm kit lens. You would have enough money to buy the Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 lens for your animal and bird shots. I have that lens also.

In my opinion, Sony currently makes the best mirrorless cameras. The readily available bodies range in price from several hundred dollars to over three thousand dollars. What lens or lenses you buy need to consider what you want to photograph. I find the 24-70 mm lens to be the most commonly used lens on all of my full-frame cameras. If you buy a crop sensor camera, you would probably want a different lens. I recommend that you buy the fastest lens you can afford; i.e., in a zoom lens, an f/2.8 or f/4 constant aperture. In a prime lens, the lowest f/# you can afford.

Depends on what you plan to shoot and under what conditions. Still subjects? Sports? Small flying birds? Low light? Portraits?

Also your budget.

What type of photography do you do more often? You are talking about two different cameras so it is important to know what your photographic style is and what you enjoy photographing.
Mirrorless are getting better but they are not the best cameras for action or wildlife photography. A full frame dSLR excels in low light.
If you enlarge beyond 13x19 often a dSLR will be a better investment unless you buy a mirrorless Sony.
A dSLR has a more extensive selection of lenses. If weight and size are a consideration a mirrorless is for you.
As you can see these are some of the reasons why to recommend a system it is important beforehand to know what the photographer plans to do with the new camera.

Philip,
Please go to your other post and look for my response: it's the one about the Pentax K-50 and I included 3 photos.

LOOK AT THE NEW Fuji x-t10. I bought one recently and it is proving to be a good investment. Their lenses are some of the best on the market.

You need to do some work. First investigate the difference between DSLR and MIRRORLESS. You decide which type of camera you'd rather have.
That is the first step.Only you can decide.

Philip: You have a reasonably sufficient budget to start the adventure. However, the types of photography that you are interested in require a wide variety of equipment, some of which could be very expensive. Outdoor Photographer magazine has had articles that discuss what kinds of equipment is best suited for the different kinds of photography. I still suggest that you do further research before making the decision as to what to get. Do you have a good camera store nearby? If so, pay them a visit. However, don't buy anything at that time. Listen to what they say but seek other opinions also. Once you learn about what is available then you will be able to make an informed choice about what best meets your needs.
