Here I go again, I have recently purchased a new Canon 70D and I have read the instructions, watched 10,000 video's,talked to several non English speaking tech people who were very nice but could not understand! But I can not shoot a video longer than 7 seconds no matter what settings I use or how big memory card I use. I know the problem is me.I have a very hard time following instruction, and the video's out there are not clear,or skip threw to fast.I know how to shoot a video, just just not for any length of time.So what am I doing wrong?
So as bad as it hurts to ask I need HELP.I looked for the 70D book for Dummies but could not find it.
You folks have never let me down before,I thank you now for any help or advise

I have the same problem, I will let you know if I find the answer.....I hope you do the same ,,, good luck!
I have the same camera with no problem shooting video. When it stops, do you get a message on the screen?
You got me curious since I never tried video with my 70D.
Well I can now say that when I press START, it starts recording video and does not stop until I press STOP. Exactly what I expected........ Hmmmmm!
To state the obvious...... You must have a problem! Sorry.
Make sure that the write speed of your SD card is very fast, simply purchasing a class 10 card may not cut it, make sure that you have a professional class card.
Check the metering mode in menu 5. What is it set at?

I agree check the write speed of your card. If it's too slow when you fill up the buffer in the camera it will shut off
When I first received my 70D I thought that the images were a little soft. I wound up sending the Camera back to Canon who fixed it really fast, no charge. Apparently it was just a factory adjustment problem.
I have had 0 problems with video. In fact the videos I have taken have been outstanding.

I had a similar problem using a Tamron 18-270 lens that came up sporadically. I wud get an error message that there was no lens attached or the lens could not be identified. I'd shut down camera and reattach lens and it might or might not work. No problems whatsoever with still photos.
Bottom line is I talked to Tamron and they say when they reverse engineer a lens, they cannot be sure that it will be compatible with future camera bodies. This makes sense I guess. The lens was still under warranty so I returned it to Tamron and they recalibrated everything and might have done some other things they wud not talk about. It seems to work fine now---tho on some very rare occassions I will still get an error message and the video will shut down. It happens so rarely that I can live with it.
