Maybe there's a more appropriate place to post this, but most of my stuff winds up in this section, so it seemed like as good a place as any.
It's a short walk from my house to the local county fairground. We go the fair every year. This year my wife suggested that I enter a couple of images in the fair's photography contest. It was something of a lark. I made the prints at Costco and stuck 'em on foam board from the local art supply store. The result? My shots from 2014 in Springfield, Illinois, and Sacramento, Calif., each took first place in their classes (Color/Action and B&W/Action, respectively), and the color image was honored as runner-up in Best of Show judging out of a couple hundred entries. Not bad for a first try. I received some nice ribbons and six bucks.
