Hey everyone - I'm ready to upgrade my Canon 7D to the MII and my Sony RX100 to the MIV. So I could sell both my 7D and Sony RX100 on ebay or trade them in. I have never done trades before - which store gives good trade $$$ - or do you think I would do better just selling on ebay?
I would guess selling them on Ebay or on this site. I sent a lens to Adorama to get a quote. The offered me $140 for the lens. When I looked on their site they were selling the same lens in the same condition they said mine was in for $650.
How much do you want for your 7D? I am looking for a second body.

You can get more on ebay if you are willing to do the work and tolerate possible hassles.
KEH is a good place to sell equipment hassle free but ROI will be substantial less.
You will do better on eBay.
eBay can be offer good prices, but you need to be careful of the numerous risks - scams such as bad (non-working) merchandise, mis-represented merchandise, stolen items with no valid warranty, etc. I would strongly recommend using the UHH Classified section. I have bought and sold items thru UHH with 100% satisfaction every time.

Thanks for the info - that's what I was wondering ...if the stores did not offer much, I guess they have to make money too.
My 7D body has had a not so glamorous life as a Horse Show photographer camera. It has been dropped in arenas, watered by the water truck, lenses changes in the dusty arenas, and bumped on jumps and fences. And I have a feeling it has a gazillion actuations... that being said I bet it is only worth a couple hundred dollars. So I may just keep it as my extra... plus it feels like part of the family now.
Thanks for the interest - if I decide to sell it I'll let you know.

THANKS - I'm a wiz on ebay -- I'll prep the old Sony today.
I traded in my lenses with Adorama and got a good deal on a new canera. I have also dealt with KEH.

Didn't know about our classified section. How do I find it? Thanks

ebay is the best way. They will be gone in a week, and you'll get fair market value. Go to ebay, search for those cameras, and then click on "Sold..." at the bottom of the left column. You'll see what they have actually sold for.
Try B & H and/or Amazon .com; they will give you an estimate and pay for shipping.
Thanks everyone - sounds like eBay is the way -- but now, I'm having trouble parting with my 7D - feels like a pet. So I think I'll just sell the Sony and keep my 7D as an extra.
Good luck with eBay! I just sold my Canon 5d2 and all my lenses. Beware of scams and buyers who don't pay. I finally got the money for the camera after I sold it for the third time. Same experience with two of the lenses. eBay now will not let you give negative feedback for a buyer. I had a friend that just packed his gear and sent it to B&H and took what they offered. Going thru eBay my net after the almost 15% in fees from eBay and Paypal was about 10% more that he got from B&H.
Forgot to mention that the person I sold the camera two wanted me to take it back and refund the money because they said the camera was defective (Shutter was sticking etc.). Then I find out the buyer didn't have a clue as to operating the camera. The "Sticking shutter" was because the 2sec delay was selected.
